The IWK Health centre is committed to the health and well-being of women, children, youth and families. As a health care centre we have a responsibility to lead-by-example, therefore it is crucial that we provide a 100% smoke-free environment for our patients, families, visitors staff and volunteers.
Smoking is not permitted on all Health Centre property at any time. Individuals who chose to smoke (including e-cigarettes) are asked to leave Health centre property. Our Protection Services Officers will enforce the IWK’s Smoke Free Policy 24 hours a day. Individuals who are found smoking on property will be asked to stop smoking or leave Health Centre Property.
We recognize that our Smoke-Free Policy may cause difficulties for some patients and families and we will be as supportive as we can be. Please talk to your health care worker about was to cope during your stay and/or visit at the Health Centre.
