The IWK is a world-class women’s and children’s Health Centre serving over a million “Maritimers” through our sites in the Halifax area and in Waterville, located in the Annapolis Valley. Patients and families tell us we provide excellent care in a unique and passionate environment. Our practice is rooted in a collaborative model that integrates talented people with new technologies, research, training, and clinical excellence. We provide the most complex levels of care in our region, but we are also firmly entrenched at the community level providing some primary and secondary care services. We’re also a strong advocate for the health of families. The IWK is a global leader in research and knowledge sharing, and a partner in educating the next generation of health professionals. We are extremely proud of those we serve, those we work with, and our work.
Our mission "to passionately pursue a healthy future for women, children, youth and families” starts with top talent. The IWK posts all available positions within our Halifax area and Waterville sites on Career Beacon.com, so click here to view our current needs and set up an alert to always know when there might be a match! We have consistent needs within our Nursing and Mental Health & Addictions Programs, so be sure to click into either program to have a look!
Passion is palpable at the IWK.
A prime example: This past March, employees mobilized to create this “happy” experience in the IWK Gallery on the first day of spring. It had been a long, snowy winter, and they wanted to spread some happiness. Watch here for a glimpse of IWK passion. At the IWK, we live our core values and beliefs; they aren’t just signage in a lobby or “About Us” website content. Our commitment to the cause – to the best care and health of children, youth, women and families is palpable across our organization. IWK Health Centre named one of Top 25 Employers of Atlantic Canada
~A message from Steve Ashton, VP People and Organizational Development
I am proud to share the news that the IWK Health Centre has been named one of the Top 25 Employers of Atlantic Canada for 2015. This designation recognizes employers in Atlantic Canada that offer exceptional places to work. Atlantic Canada's Top Employers is the regional edition of the prestigious Canada's Top 100 Employers.
We are pleased to obtain this honour which highlights something we’ve known for a long time: our people are what make the IWK culture excellent. We have 3200 employees, some who have worked here for 43 years. Recognition helps us continue to focus on keeping the IWK culture inspired and seek new ways to build and grow. These awards are helpful in our task of recruiting the best talent across the world, something that we are keen to continue.
Part of the process for choosing the Top 25 Employers involves being evaluated using a series of eight criteria that cover everything from workplace infrastructure to atmosphere, vacation to communication, and community involvement. Employers are then compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
